This years Canyon Fires

 Fires in the Canyon.  I know my shots are kind of fuzzy but it was totally cool to watch.  This year the fire was bigger and off in the farther distance was another fire.  That one looked like a tiny red speck.  I love Meadview.  Such excitement.

The Beach

We set off to California.  Gigi came with us and we have finished our first day.  The girls loved it.  This was Gi's first time at the beach and she was ecstatic.  Catherine was thrilled to have a friend with her.  At first Gi didn't want to go past ankle deep in the water but by the end of the day she didn't want to leave the water.  Catherine followed me around.  I played in the water with the girls, she did the same.  Daddy played in the sand, she did the same.  I laid out in the sun, Catherine laid out in the sun.  My little copycat.  On the way home Gi was upset with Cat because she wouldn't talk to her.  Well, Cat was trying to go to sleep and when I explained that to Gi, she let Cat go to sleep.

Annular Eclipse 2012

At 5:47pm driving home from Church we noticed the eclipse starting with a quick glance at the sun.

When we got home we borrowed Bruce's welding mask and two sunglasses so we could get pictures of the eclipse.

It was amazing and difficult to get the shots we wanted without an eclipse lens for the camera or ourselves.  We did our best to not look at the sun without the glasses. 

However even with all the difficulty to get the perfect shot we were able to do it.

As we were getting the best pictures we could of the eclipse something else interesting happened.  The coyotes began to howl.  They howled for a good long minute at the peak of the eclipse.

So it was very cool to watch and see the annular eclipse and hear nature response to events in the sky.
